About Us
Joe Bourdow, owner of Bourdow's Hockey Shop, says a few words about the shop's beginnings, and what the sport of hockey means to him:
I started playing hockey when I was 10 years old--a little late by today's standards--but from the first time I hit the ice, I fell in love with it! Hockey--it's the best game on earth!
Thirty-some years later, I still can't get enough of it. From watching live games on TV, to playing on the local "beer leagues," to playing a pond tournament, hockey is great! But as great as playing hockey is, coaching my kid's teams is even better.
We opened Bourdow's Hockey Shop in 2006, inside the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena. Since then, we've made many interior improvements to our shop; and we've continued to expand our hockey inventory in response to demand. In 2009, we launched this website, at www.bourdowshockeyshop.com, to serve our customers even better.

The Story of 4
The number 4, both straight-up, and upside-down, is used throughout this site and elsewhere in tribute to Joe's older brother--best friend and fellow hockey enthusiast, Patrick Bourdow--who passed away in 2003. Joe and Patrick were as close as brothers could be, and both used the number 4 in all of their sports. So when they began playing on the same team, Joe kept the number 4, and Patrick used the upside down 4. And it's been that way ever since...
